Leaderboards and Arena

How TRUE ranks traders, what each board measures, and why a board you can game is a board nobody should trust.

The boards

TRUE runs several, and they measure different things. Reading the wrong one is how people end up copying somebody for a reason that board never claimed.

BoardRanks on
Perps leaderboardRealised trading performance on the venue, over a window
Copy leaderboardTraders publishing themselves to be copied, ranked on the same realised basis
WhalesSolana wallets, by realised profit on chain
PointsActivity across the platform, which is a reward programme and not a skill ranking
ContestsWhatever that contest’s published rule says, and nothing else

The first three measure realised results. A position that is up and still open has not proved anything, and a board that counted it would reward holding losers and cutting winners.

Points are not performance

The points board ranks how much you did, not how well you did it. It drives rewards. Someone at the top of points may be a worse trader than someone who is not on it at all, and neither board is lying: they answer different questions.

Contests

Contests run with a published rule, a published window and a published prize. Two things hold on every one:

  • The rule is fixed before it starts. If a rule has to change mid-contest, that gets announced rather than quietly applied.
  • Behaviour that games the scoring is excluded, and what counts as gaming is stated up front rather than decided afterwards when somebody wins in a way nobody intended.

Accounts can be hidden from a board. That is for internal, house and bot accounts, so a board of real traders is a board of real traders.

Why the design is careful

A leaderboard is an incentive, and people optimise against incentives. Rank on unrealised profit and you teach people to hold losers. Rank on raw volume and you teach wash trading. Rank on percentage with no size floor and the winner is whoever turned $12 into $60.

The boards measure realised results over a window, which is the hardest of those to fake and still not impossible. Read any of them as evidence, never as a recommendation.

Every leaderboard is survivorship. You are seeing whoever won recently. The traders who took the same risks and lost are not shown, because they are not on a leaderboard.
