Copy Trading

Follow a TRUE perps trader and mirror their positions into your own separate book, with your own size, your own margin and a flat fee per copied trade.

What it is

Pick a trader on the TRUE perps venue, and their trades get mirrored into an account of yours. They trade, you get the same position shape at your own size. You are not buying a fund unit and you are not handing anyone your money: the positions are yours, in your own book, and you can close them yourself at any moment without asking the leader anything.

The copy wallet is a separate book

Copying does not run out of your main trading balance. It runs out of a copy wallet, which is its own venue account with its own margin.

This is the single most important thing to understand about the product. If the trader you follow blows up, the damage is bounded by what you funded the copy wallet with. Your manual positions are in a different account and are not touched. You choose the exposure by choosing how much you put in.

Fund it with what you would be willing to lose on this trader

Copy trading is leveraged perps trading executed by somebody whose reasoning you cannot see in advance. A leader with a good month can have a bad week. Size the copy wallet as a decision about that trader, because that is exactly what it is.

How it works

  1. Pick a leader from the leaderboard. You can see their realised performance, not a marketing number.
  2. Fund your copy wallet. It is a normal venue account: deposit USDC, and it shows in your balances alongside everything else.
  3. They trade, you mirror. When the leader opens, your book opens the same market and direction, scaled to your account. When they close, yours closes.
  4. Stop whenever. Unfollowing stops new mirrors. Positions already open stay yours to manage or close.

Fees

A flat 1 USDC per copied trade, charged to the copier when the mirrored order fills.

Two things follow from “when it fills”:

  • A mirror that does not fill costs nothing. No fill, no fee.
  • A forced close never charges a copy fee. Being liquidated is not a trade you chose to copy.

The normal venue trading fees apply on top, the same 0.02% maker and 0.10% taker as any other perps trade. See Perps DEX.

Leaders earn a share for being followed. That settlement runs on TRUE’s own ledger rather than on the venue.

What the leader can and cannot do

A leader can place trades in their own account. That is all. They cannot:

  • see, move or withdraw anything in your copy wallet,
  • stop you closing a position,
  • change your size or your leverage,
  • reach your main trading account at all.

Your copy wallet is yours. TRUE holds a trade-scoped delegate so the mirror can be placed, and that delegate cannot withdraw.

Being a leader

Traders can publish themselves to be copied. The leaderboard ranks on realised performance over a window, and a leader who stops trading falls off it. TRUE can hide an account from the leaderboard where there is a reason to, for example during a contest with its own rules.

Honest limitations

  • You will not get the leader’s exact fill. Your order is a separate order in the book. In a fast market your price can differ.
  • Past performance on the leaderboard is past performance. It is measured, not predicted, and we do not rank by anything else.
  • A copy position is a real leveraged position and can be liquidated like any other.
